Burgundy Sagebrush

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 29 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous flexible, straight stems covered in delicate, rough, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, long, tapering, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally orange, rigid and clammy.

In late spring it produces thick bunches of tiny, beige flowers with spiral shaped petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like lavender.
