Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This giant tree grows up to 110 meters (360.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 452 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in thin, ridged, brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of sticky, large, wispy leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid violet with indigo dots.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, cyan blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like soap.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, blood red, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It comes in 18 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
