Bluefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, waxy, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The numerous branches are very long and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either hazel, or sky blue with crimson zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces many balls of small, light brown blossoms with needle-like petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like warm milk.

In late autumn it produces tiny, slender, 4 pointed fruit. The crispy brilliant blue skin is thick and bitter and sour, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is slightly spicy and very dry. The olive seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
