Crimson Succulent

This short cactus grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is gray-green, and is covered in brittle orange spines. The wedge-shaped body is amber, and is covered in handfuls of rigid purple spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 44 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with alternating petals of purple and silver, with a magenta central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 9 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a soft scent that smells like roses.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the blood red flesh is smooth, and the crimson sap is thin.
