Red Cupflower

This large flower grows up to 5.7 feet (1.7 meters) tall. Its red stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the tiny, green leaves are wide with rounded edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Each stem splits 2 to 8 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 74 cm (29.1 inches) wide, with petals that are either bronze or aquamarine, with a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 20 widely spaced, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like fish, and it has very little pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
