Copperleaf

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thin, and the large, copper leaves are asymmetrical with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

Hundreds of large flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with solid purple petals and a pink central disk. The flower head is made up of 42 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like faeces, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
