Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 80 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in hard, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are silver at the bottom and azure with washed-out red streaks at the top.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, purple blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like warm cookies.

In late autumn it produces tiny, slender, 4 pointed fruit. The rubbery washed-out red skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy lilac flesh is sweet and oily. The cream seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is difficult to cut through.
