Copperpetal

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is wispy and splits into 6 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, pink-red leaves are broad, flat with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 20 cm (7.9 inches) wide, with petals that are copper in the center, lilac in the middle and beige at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 26 tightly layered, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like cheap aftershave, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
