Turquoise

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are long and thick and are covered with large amounts of miniature, fan-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid turquoise with red dots.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, amber blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like new carpet.

In early winter it produces small, pleated fruit. The rubbery orange skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft deep purple flesh is salty and dry. The olive seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It can absorb up to 5 times its own weight in water.
