Magenta Flower

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge flower grows up to 12.0 feet (3.7 meters) tall. Its gray stem is thick, and the miniature, burgundy leaves are finger-like with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 6 to 12 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 82 cm (32.3 inches) wide, with petals that are magenta on the underside and grey on the top. The flower head is largely flat with 50 widely spaced narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a strong scent that smells like new carpet, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The leaves are slightly toxic, and very spicy.
The sap is violet.
