Bloodfire

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its moss green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are wispy and straight, and split into numerous branching stems at the top, and the huge, green or blood red leaves are dark grey on the underside and are pleated with jagged edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Several medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with dark grey petals on the lower layer and turquoise petals decorated with blood red dots on the inner layer. The central disk is subtle orange. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like skunk spray, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
