Crimson Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The thin stem is moss green, and is dotted with small light red spines. The slanted, cream trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the top. Its lime green branches are short stubs and start growing halfway up the stem.
The sparse amounts of smooth-edged, slender, pointed leaves are vibrant red and crimson. They are robust, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are either vivid green or olive, with a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 14 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like ashes.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the green flesh is waxy, and the violet sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
