Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 35 feet (10.7 meters) and growing as high as 71 feet (21.6 meters).
It takes 4 years for the pink-red stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are smooth and rubbery.
The heart-shaped, smooth leaves reach up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length. They are hazel on the sides and azure at the center, and have tattered edges.
During late spring, the vine produces hundreds of small light brown flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces plenty of small berries.
