Caramelvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 166 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several stocky, straight stems covered in fine, silky, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, wide, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in yellow, pale blue and caramel varieties, light and rough.

In mid-summer it produces several medium-sized, lime blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early autumn fan-like fruits ripen. The crispy copper skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft green flesh is sweet and sour and dry. The olive seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
