Copperberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of large, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in amber and turquoise varieties.

In early spring, it produces balls of large, crimson blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In early autumn it produces , needle-like fruit. The sticky indigo skin is thick and sweet and spicy, and the crunchy indigo flesh is sour and dry. The silver seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
