Copper Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in thin, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of light brown that gradient shifts to grey at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, florescent orange blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early summer it produces tiny, oval fruit. The smooth light grey skin is thick and slightly spicy, and the crunchy black flesh is sweet and powdery. The green seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
