Blackberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 198 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of flexible, twisting stems covered in fine, rough, brown bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are long and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of small, thin, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either black or brown, with vibrant orange dots, rigid and crispy.

In mid-spring it produces many giant, slate flowers with 5 oblong shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like rich perfume.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
Several parts of the grass have medicinal properties.
