Copperfruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, twisting trunk covered in delicate, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy.

The excessive amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise and pastel blue.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, purple blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like leather.

In early winter it produces small, 3 pointed fruit. The smooth cyan skin is thin and inedible, and the soft white flesh is bitter and savoury and juicy. The bright green seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
