Crimson Vine

Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small vine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 16 feet (4.9 meters) and growing as high as 68 feet (20.7 meters). It prefers to grow on trees.

It takes 8 months for the red stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are rough and woody.

The spear shaped, rough leaves reach up to 2 inches (5 cm) in length. They are olive and bold red, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the vine produces hundreds of average hazel flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces a handful of tiny seed pods.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
