Amberleaf Succulent

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is yellow-green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible orange spines. The pointed leaves are cream with amber tips. Thick bunches of them grow on wide, gray branches that are very long and slender. The leaves are hardy, but do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 49 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with green petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 9 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like cheese.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the bronze flesh is sticky, and the beige sap is thin.
