Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing small areas On rotten logs.
It is enormous, growing up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is very durable.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores.
