Crimson Fireleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is gray-green, and is covered in brittle crimson spines. The ripped-edged, flame-shaped leaves are blood red and green. Sparse amounts of them grow from the base like a cabbage. The leaves are tough, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 16 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid grey petals and a cyan central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like petrol.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the caramel flesh is soft, and the hazel sap is thin and can kill if consumed.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
