Blackvine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This enormous bine is a slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 1,482 feet (451.7 meters) and growing as high as 359 feet (109.4 meters).

It takes 15 years for the brown stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 9 inches (23 cm) and are rough and woody.

The asymmetrical, rough leaves reach up to 3.6 feet (1.1 meters) in length. They are either black or red, with indigo splotches, and have smooth edges.


It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
