Copperbell

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The wide stem is copper, and is covered in many flexible vivid green spines. The straight, faded green trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter at the top. Its beige branches are short and thin and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The sparse amounts of rounded-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are faded orange on the sides and indigo at the center. They are rigid, but easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with deep yellow petals and an azure central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like paint.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the gentle red flesh is slimy, and the orange sap is thin.
