Purplefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 24 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, curved trunk covered in fine, smooth, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of giant, oval-shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either blood red, or purple with silver streaks.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, peach blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like a man.

In early winter it produces , oval fruit. The smooth vivid yellow skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is very salty, and the crunchy purple flesh is spicy and dry. The dark grey seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
