Burgundyfern

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, light brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with sparse amounts of large, moss green needles. The needles themselves are tough.

In late summer it produces giant, cream seed pods.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
