Copperflower

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its blood red or dark brown stem is wispy and splits into 5 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, gray-green leaves are perforated with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Hundreds of tiny flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with copper petals on the lower layer and cyan petals decorated with purple dots on the inner layer. The central disk is gold. The flower head is largely flat with 15 raised narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
