Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 74 feet (22.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in smooth, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, broad, flat leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and turquoise.

In early spring, it produces bunches of small, pink blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like apple.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The hairy crimson skin is stretchy and sweet, and the very soft bronze flesh is bitter and juicy. The red seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
