Crimson Vine Trumpet

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its orange stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 3 and are thick and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems at the top, and the giant, burgundy leaves are dark green on the underside and are fan-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Dozens of small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with blood red petals that gradient shift to green on the outer edge. The central disk is azure. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of dozens of raised, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like a woman, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
