Bluebell

Flower type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its pink or green stem is wispy and splits into 9 branching stems at the base, and the miniature, yellow leaves are dark silver on the underside and are circular with smooth edges. 26 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid gentle blue petals decorated with dark brown lines and a turquoise central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 56 curved petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
