Clinging Willow

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 193 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several narrow, wonky stems covered in smooth, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, pleated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either amber or sky blue, with copper patches, robust and sticky.

In mid-spring it produces thousands of tiny, black flowers with 4 pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like alcohol.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
