Azure Trumpetvine

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its brown stem is very thin and splits into 7 branching stems halfway up, and the miniature, emerald leaves are dark lime green on the underside and are circular with toothed edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid drab purple petals decorated with azure dots and a cream central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 7 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like warm milk, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
