Lilac

This short caudiciform grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The wide stem is green, and is covered in lots of rigid lilac spines. It has a wavy, slender, crimson trunk atop a narrow clump of smooth, exposed roots. The branches are very thick and orange and are very short and thin.

The smooth-edged, asymmetrical leaves are a shade of lime green that gradient shifts to florescent orange at the top. They are resilient, but take little effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 41 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with green petals that gradient shift to florescent orange on the outer edge. The central disk is red grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 42 curved petals. It has no scent.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the amber flesh is rough, and the intense blue sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
