Copper

This huge flower grows up to 7.1 feet (2.2 meters) tall. Its copper stem is very thin, and the small, gray-green leaves are light yellow-green on the underside and are wide with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 11 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 42 cm (16.5 inches) wide, with petals that are cream at the sides and brown at the center. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like onion, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
