Crimsonvine

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its crimson or drab blue stem is very thick, and the giant, lime green leaves are 6 pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Lots of medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with solid copper petals decorated with hazel lines and a yellow central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 23 petals. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like soap, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
