Coniapple Tree

This massive fruit tree grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in delicate, waxy, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either dark brown or cream, with beige edges.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, copper blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In late autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The hairy yellow skin is thin and bitter, and the very soft blue flesh is sweet and very dry. The beige seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
