Clinging Magenta Vine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 34 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, slanted stems covered in very thick, wrinkled, light brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, wide, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with dark grey tips, hardy and smooth.

In late spring it produces many tiny, magenta blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like a newborn baby.

In early winter tiny wide fruits ripen. The rubbery grey skin is thick and inedible, and the soft sky blue flesh is bitter and powdery. The beige seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
