Clinging Spearbloom

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 40 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, gray bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are very short and thick with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, spear shaped, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and florescent yellow, rigid and rough.

In early spring it produces thick bunches of large, azure blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

In mid-autumn small cuboid fruits ripen. The fuzzy florescent yellow skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy light purple flesh is savoury and very dry. The gold seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
