Caramel Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is dark brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of giant, long, tapering leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are caramel with blood red tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, cyan blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like musk.

In mid-autumn it produces , triangular fruit. The rubbery brown skin is thick and savoury, and the very soft caramel flesh is sweet and dry. The pastel yellow seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
