Blackstar

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thin, and the small, pink-red leaves are pleated with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Each stem splits 3 to 5 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with solid black petals and a dark blue central disk. The flower head is made up of 20 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They are sturdy.

It has a strong scent that smells like rotten egg, and it has very little pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
