Indigo Vine

This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 47 feet (14.3 meters) and growing as high as 144 feet (43.9 meters). It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 3 years for the gray-green stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and are rough and prickly.

The finger-like, soft leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are indigo on the edges and cream at the center, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces copious amounts of large olive flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces lots of large fruits.
