Emerald

This small cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The wide stem is emerald, and is covered in hundreds of rigid green spines. The wedge-shaped body is pink-red, and is covered in brittle white spines.

It is slow growing, taking 46 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with slate petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a star with 4 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like soap.

The cactus's skin is thin, the vibrant orange flesh is slimy, and the violet sap is thin.
