Amethyst Caudiciform

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 36 feet (11.0 meters) tall. The pleated stem is copper and yellow, and is dotted with small vivid green spines. The wide, lime trunk can grow to as much as 36 feet (11.0 meters) in diameter. Its moss green branches are very long and slender.

The smooth-edged, very thin leaves are bright purple at the bottom and red with amber dots at the top. They are sturdy, and take little effort to detach.

It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of aquamarine and indigo, with a lime central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of many widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like lemon.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the orange flesh is slimy, and the light blue sap is thin.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
