Clinging Conifer

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 17 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several sturdy, straight stems covered in knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.

The branches trail down towards the ground that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, asymmetrical, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper and yellow varieties, hardy and smooth.

In mid-spring it produces large amounts of medium-sized, pink blossoms with spear shaped petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like onion.

In late autumn tiny fan-like fruits ripen. The fuzzy deep red skin is stretchy and edible when boiled; it is extremely spicy, and the crunchy orange flesh is sweet and juicy. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
