Crimsonbell

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 76 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several long and flexible, wavy stems covered in paper-thin, rough, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, thick, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are yellow-green with crimson tips, durable and soft.

In mid-spring it produces a handful of large, olive blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like bleach.

In late autumn tiny perforated fruits ripen. The waxy caramel skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft gold flesh is bitter and salty and sticky. The white seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

It is very resistant to fire damage.
