Crimson Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On rotten logs, and On trees.
It is enormous, growing up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly hardy; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
