Black Spined Cactus

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 31 feet (9.4 meters) tall. The tapering stem is gray-green, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible black spines.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid blood red petals decorated with yellow lines and a silver central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the grey flesh is leathery, and the green sap is thin.
