Copper
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized flower grows up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. Its copper stems grow in bunches of 8 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the miniature, emerald leaves are light caramel on the underside and are finger-like with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
Each stem splits 1 to 7 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with alternating petals of cyan and cream, with a pale green central disk. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
It has a strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
