Copper-coloured

This enormous shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 131 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of knobbly, wavy stems covered in very thick, ridged, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of large, 3 pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac and cream varieties, rigid and leathery.

In mid-summer it produces a handful of small, magenta flowers with 5 triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like alcohol.
