Copperbell

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is vivid red and gold, and is covered in thick bunches of fine, slate, hair-like spines. The straight, gold trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter at the bottom. Its copper branches are short stubs and start growing halfway up the stem.

The small amounts of wavy-edged, spear shaped leaves are either silver, or turquoise with bronze patches. They are sturdy, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid olive petals decorated with blue dots and a lime central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 35 curved petals. It has a weak scent that smells like pineapple.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the magenta flesh is rough, and the dark yellow sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
